  1. Intro:

It’s November! That means winter is just around the corner. We’re already on week 6 of our dryland/axis training schedule (CRazy!).

The results are showing. Each lap up the Snowking Bootpack feels easier. Each cork 7 at AXIS feels more controlled. There's a momentum moving into the upcoming season with our coaches and athletes that has me feeling very excited. Lets keep that momentum moving forward with the remaining 3 weeks of Fall training.

All families should be receiving our weekly Friday updates. Please let me know if you are not! (collin@jhskiclub.org).

Event and training schedules are live for the season (still waiting on details for April championship events). Take a look at the respective links below. Sync these to your google calendars to easily keep track of training schedules!

  1. October Re-Cap

Events:

Thanks to everyone who participated in our October events. We were in attendance at:

  • The JHSC Annual Ski Swap

This one is a beast to pull off! A huge thanks to Jesse Knori for being an absolute rockstar. With nearly 1500 through the doors, it was a smashing success!

Utah Olympic Park Camp:

Coach Andrew and I took a crew of our Competition team athletes down to the UOP for a great weekend of training on the airbag. This is one of 2 facilities in North America (that I am aware of) with a dryslope inrun to downhill landing airbag.

Team w/Landing

Small team, big bag.

This is the closest simulation to doing tricks on snow (in a far safer setting). I was really impressed with the facility and the level of riding from the kids. Lots of new tricks were put to feet (double cork 10s, double backflips and double flat 7s). These are skills the kids need to take their skiing/riding to a pro-level.

Jump!

Big ramp!

This is a great training facility, we’ll definitely be back!

Dryland Training:

Grades 9-12:

Grades 9-12 have been working hard with weekly runs up and down Snowking, focused weight training, and coach Riis’s dreaded tire drags.

Up we go!

Up we go!

Keep up the hard work team!

Grades 5-8:

Grades 5-8 have been spending lots of time on High School Butte, playing soccer and Speedball, and working on developing good fitness habits and form with bodyweight exercise in the fields next to the skatepark. Special thanks to coaches Orion and Sydney for taking point on these training times.

HS Butte

Down the Butte!

Houlie!

Axis Training:

Thanks to AXIS for inviting us into their space to work on our air awareness and tricks! This is a great place for both Slopestyle and Freeride athletes to work on their air game before taking tricks to snow during the upcoming season. Let us know if you’re interested in over-winter training options. If there’s enough demand we’ll do training through the season.

  1. November Events:

Concussion Night: November 6th SK Lodgeroom, 6-8

Community concussion experts will be leading this informational discussion on concussions.

Shredders/Progression/Freepine Team Meeting: November 10, 6:30PM

This season, all team meetings will be held via ZOOM. Please plan to attend to ensure you are up to date on all the information you need moving into the season.

JHMR Opening Day: November 28, 2025

The first day of lifts spinning in the valley is only 25 days away! Do your snow dance!

That’s all for now! See you next month.
