Shane Keelin
Shane Keelin has spent six years with the JHSC Backcountry Program, developing the skills, judgment, and confidence needed to move through the mountains safely.
When asked about his favorite JHSC memory, Shane pointed to messing around while digging snow pits with the Backcountry. Those moments capture something special about the program: learning serious mountain safety skills while still having fun with teammates.
After graduation, Shane will attend the Colorado School of Mines, where he plans to pursue Quantitative Biosciences and Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. When asked what JHSC has taught him, Shane said the Club helped him learn how to be safe in the backcountry, from digging snow pits to reading weather patterns and understanding where not to go. Shane plans to continue backcountry skiing in college and beyond, making it his main way of skiing for the foreseeable future!
Congratulations, Shane! We are proud of the thoughtful, capable, and adventurous athlete you have become, and we cannot wait to see where your next chapter takes you.
