The Shredders Team is intended for athletes who want to develop strong skill foundations in a recreational environment. Fun, safety, and self-empowerment through snowsports are priorities for the Shredder Team athletes. Training will focus on fundamentals in all-mountain freeriding and terrain park skills.  The Shredders training schedule is designed for athletes with at least two seasons of experience.  

USASA and IFSA certified Freeride Program Coaches will guide athletes through steeps, bumps, trees, powder, and terrain park features with an emphasis on safety, etiquette, and FUN!  Additionally, we complete mid and end of season athlete evaluations based of the USSA's Developmental Matrix. **This is not a learn to ski / snowboard program. Prerequisite skill is the ability to ski all groomed and ungroomed terrain on the mountain**

Skill Development Focus

  • Fundamental body movement, balance & edge control

  • Terrain Park SMART Style

  • Intro to Small/Medium Terrain Park/Natural features 

  • Intro to jumping, switch riding, rails/boxes & grabs

  • Intro to expert terrain (Corbet's, Alta chutes etc.) 

  • Basic rotations (180s, 360s)

  • Sportsmanship and Team Participation

  • Intro to local competition

Recommended for recreational athletes aged 8-18.

Sunday - 10:30 am – 2:30 pm at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

  • No Training December 28- 29 (Christmas/ New Year's Blackout)

  • No Training January 18 - 19 (Martin Luther King Holiday Blackout)

  • No Practice on February 15 - 16 (President's Day Holiday Blackout) 

*All blackout training moved to Snowking, those with Snowking Passes are welcome to join!

Season Passes

Athletes need a Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Season Bypass. Athlete season pass is not included in program fees and must be purchased directly through Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Please purchase early for best pricing.

Equipment Recommendations 

Participants are required to have the following:

  • *Helmets are REQUIRED for all training*

  • Snowboard, boots, bindings (Snowboard Program).

  • Skis, boots, and poles (Freeski Program).

    • Skis must have twin tip

    • Junior rental skis are adequate for Shredders team. 

  • Water-resistant snow pants and jacket.

  • Warm wool or synthetic base layers.

  •  Goggles.

    • We recommend multiple lens options for low and high light

Academic Support and Early Release Program 

There is no early release schedule required for Shredders athletes. 

Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club staff works closely with the local schools to further develop the Early-Release Program for each academic year and summer programs. The Club and local schools are highly motivated to create educational program options for students that enable them to maintain a rigorous academic schedule while supporting athletic growth and development.  Learn more
